Hi,

This problem has been driving me mad. I used to run Mediaportal 1.0 RC2 on the above hardware and noticed that i only had stereo as audio, besides that I had no audio problems.

Wanting 5.1 DTS i started fooling around with codecs and their configuration and sure enough my Onkyo Receiver detected DTS. That's when the audio problems started in Mediaportal. Although my music and video files played without problems (and with DTS) from players like winamp or Windows Mediaplayer Classic, it would only play back with some crackling in it via Mediaportal. That's right, video's AND music files.

Eventually I just configured Mediaportal to play video files via the external Windows Mediaplayer Classic, but that meant no OSD or resume in videos and ofcourse no playing of music without crackling.

Fed up with the situation and because I had played around so much with codecs, I decided to completely reinstall the system. I installed Windows XP SP3 and the latest SVN build of Mediaportal and went with the build-in MPC codecs. It didn't solve the audio problem. I then installed the K-Lite codec pack and tried the ffdshow audio codec, but the crackling didn't stop.

I have set everything to SPDIF Output, from the configuration tool of the Auzentech driver to the MPC - MPA Decoder Filter in the Mediaportal Configuration and/or in the ffdshow audio decoder settings.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Does anyone else have an Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1 and care to tell me what codecs they use and how they configured the "PCI 3D Audio Configuration" that came with the Auzentech driver?

Just to clarify what I mean with crackling audio: the music plays, but seems to skip from time to time, in mp3's, avi's, mkv's and only if played from within Mediaportal.

Have you made sure that your PC is set to output audio with 100% volume?

If you attenuate the audio this will break encoded audio formats.

I have the same soundcard as you mate and what a card, does what it says on the tin. The only codec I have installed is the AC3 codec and I only get crackling (occasionaly) on some music channels so would be interested in the outcome of this issue.

Hi Kev,

Yup, the audio level is set to 100%.

Iceman: do you mean AC3filter? Would you be able to poste me a screenshot of how you configured it?

Thanks

An Idea like that because it happenned to me in other circunstances...

Do you have a webcam plugged in ? Or a Microphone ?
Try to see, somewhere in your audio properties, if the "Line In" or the "Mic(rophone)" is activated or so (put all of this on silent).

Hi waskol

Thanks for your suggestion. I don't have a webcam or microphone plugged in and I just tried to mute the Line in and Mic but it didn't solve the problem :(

Hi Guys,

Has there been a solution to this as I seem to be getting this on a more regular basis now and my last resort (which I'd rather not do) is to completely reset the pc.
