So this stability thing just isn't working for me... at least as far as TV/Video is concerned.

Everything generally fine while watching straight TV (no recording), but watching recorded shows, watching 1 show while recording another, or really just doing anything too quickly seems to set it off to crash land. When it does this, I also don't seem to be able to get out of Media Portal so more often than not have to do a hard-reset which I am sure is not helping things.

Brand new install, new user, so I'm sure I've screwed up something obvious! Perhaps the log files will help!

Thanks!

Sounds like a driver problem to me or codec conflict maybe? I haven't looked at the logs yet. I would make sure your TV card has the newest drivers installed.

I've checked that I have the latest drivers, but the KWorld DVBT-100 is a bit ancient, so can't find much since 2005!

Any pointers on what to look for in the logs?

just had a quick glance over the error.log

"2009-01-25 12:14:43.843750 [TVService]: Exception :Error: DatabaseUnavailableUnclassified
Gentle.Common.GentleException: The database backend (provider SQLServer) could not be reached.

Imho I'd say it's something with the database. I'am not at my home rig right know, so please search in the tv server configuration where you can adjust a delay , lets say 5 seconds, before tv server starts.

    best.
