    Hi,

I’m working on a Plugin being able to edit and cut recordings within MediaPortal.
With this plugin you will be able to set in and out marks and press cut.
You will get a new file without the sequences you don’t wanted (i.e. commercials).
At this time only dvr-ms files will be handled, ‘cause this is the default format of MediaPortal’s record engine, right now.

I just have a problem getting the preview video work properly.
I get just sound but have no picture.

I asked at IRC and posted this test file https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=12944 but still can’t get it work.
Maybe one of you will find the problem?
It seems to be something with vmr7 and vmr9.
(with vmr7 it is working, with vmr9 not)
I can enable Overlay. But than there will be only this small preview in the lower left corner but that's to small.

I need your help getting the preview window work properly.

If you would like to help you only need to download the zip file.
    http://www.uploading.com/?get=0FZORVPS
It’s the plugin as it will be in the first release but without the cut function. The zip also includes the source code.
Just copy the DVRCutMP.dll into your plugins\windows folder and the xml file into your favourit skin folder and restart MediaPortal.

I’m working on this for some weeks, now.
It’s working quite fine and maybe some people will find this helpful, if I just could get the preview window work properly?

Hope someone could help me out.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with your project, I just wanted to say:

    THANK YOU!

That's what I've been waiting for. I'm really looking forward to this plugin being finished.

Another thank you! This will save me time finding a program to do it outside of mediaportal.
The fact that it uses the DVR files is a good thing. Let us convert it to the final format AFTER we edit it. That way it will be the best quality.

Just as an FYI.....MP will eventually move away from recording to dvr files and save files in .ts format (which was hoped to be included in 0.2.0 however was scrapped until a future release).

I'm afraid I cannot help you as well... :/
Just wanted to thank you for the work you have done so far - a cutting feature is just what MP is missing!

Have you received any help yet?

Kaybe, I'm currently working on a MPEG cutting/trimming plug-in ! Maybe we can have a look together at your problem (preview no video, only sound) and then integrate my mpeg stuff together with your dvr-ms.

Its nice to see that some people like this plugin although I have not implemented the cutting function in this version.
I have done so because I would like to release the working version with a nice preview window in the middle of the screen and not with this little window in the lower left corner.
But at the moment I did not get any help to solve this problem.

    at Brutus:
It would be nice if we both could solve the problem.
And it makes sense to put our work together to have a complete cutting solution and not to do the same work twice.

    Hi kaybe,

Maybe this has something to do with your graphics card. As far as I know, VMR9 requires a DirectX 9-capable graphics card. Your Radeon 9200 is only a DirectX 8 card.
So maybe getting a cheap DX9 card (a GeForce FX 5200, for example, is enough and can be bought for about 35,- Euros) will solve this problem. :)

    Hi,

Waltz: I do really not think, that the graphics card is the problem. VMR9 works also on older cards (eg. on mine 8500).

kaybe: Did you try to catch up a coder on IRC?

    Flip.

Yes I have tried it several times but it seems to me that I have not reached the right one.
Perhaps you can give me the right person I can ask. :?:

Like FlipGer I dont think that this is a graphics card problem.
I have testet it on several machines and some had a dx9 card.

The plugin should work in the same way the TV homescreen is working. If you start a video file in the video plugin and move to the TV homescreen, the video is playing in the black field where the TV picture normaly should be.
I have watched in the MP code to see how this is working and I tried a lot of things, but I cannot get it working the same way in my plugin.
I think my knowledge of how MP is doing these things is a bit too low.

I hope someone could help me or give me some hints to solve this problem.
