CVS: unrecognized auth response (1 Viewer)

Hello, each time i try to log into cvs - independent from the cvs client i use - i receive the following error message:

Code: 
cvs [login aborted]: unrecognized auth response from cvs.sourceforge.net: M PserverBackend::PserverBackend() Connect (Connection refused)

can this be a problem of firewall settings?
