I know there have been posts about this before, but I cannot find anyone who is actively using MP with DSM-320 running in another room, using UPnP service (via plugin, that I have seen).

Seeing as I have an old DSM-320, I would like to use it for a TV in the bedroom, just to read the shares on the main MP PC in the lounge. I only use it for films, not tv.

If anyone has tried this and got it working, I would be interested to hear. I am in the middle of moving from Singapore to Brazil, so my HTPC and all related equipment is being packed into a container for shipping now, so I wont see it all again for over a month. This is if I am lucky, and the Customs don't decide they would like a nice HTPC, especially as I made a point of keeping all the Portuguese subtitles on my films for friends to watch in Brazil when I arrived...

If I dont hear back, I will give it a go, and let people know. There might be yet be something those ill-fated D-Link media players can be used for...

we use the DSM-320 all the time. I use TVersity as UPnP server (TVersity - Home)
The DSM--320 is used to play music and video recorded with MP.

Thanks for the reply - I think I saw a few of your posts on this in another thread. I tried TVversity as an alternative to the supplied D-Link software some years ago, and while it was ok, it was never that stable on my (wired) network. Ideally what I would like is integrated UPnP service on MP, but I will try that plugin for the meantime.

Of course in an ideal world, I would know how to crack whatever storage the DSM-320 uses, and load a cut down version of XP and Media Portal onto it...
