Hi

I have been using MP for years for recording analog signals (via a PVR150), but now I need a digital TV-card. I know that most cards can be used for TV2 DR1 and DR2, but I would also like to see and record DR HD.
It is a bit confusing for me, but it seems like this channel will be send in another format (MPEG4?) - so my question is, which TV-card do I need in order to be able to see all these new danish digital channels.

Also I would like to record one channel and record another channel.

Thanks for your advise

    That depends on where you get the signal from. My guess is that you either get ít from the air (DVB-T) or cable (DVB-C).
    I use DVB-C and found a used FireDTV-tuner card.

    The Mpeg4-part of it is a software issue. So just buy a good tuner and a good Mpeg-4/H.264 codec. I use CoreAVC. It costs around 75 DKK.

    And the last question: You need a tuner for each channel you wan't to see/record concurrent.

    If you get it by air (DVB-T) then MPEG-4/HD is also a matter of software.

    If the channels are watching/recording are on the same MUX, you can record and watch all the channels you want. If you go across MUX'es (you want to watch a channel on MUX1 and record one on MUX2) you need at least two tuners.

    The last part about MUX and tuners, does this require special knowledge/software to take advantage of it, or is it natively supported by MP?

    MP handles all this by itself, and will alert you with messages like "no free tuner available" and other stuff ;)

    I would advice you to get at least one dual-tuner card, as you will most likely go across MUX'es in the future (if you use DVB-T):

    (danish text below):

    * De frie kanaler ligger på frekvens-sæt #1 og #2, kaldet MUX1 og MUX2.
    * Boxer kanalerne ligger på MUX3, MUX4 og MUX5.

    MUX1 vil per 1/11 indeholde DR1, DR2, TV 2, TV 2 Regioner Xtra, Tegnsprog og lokal-tv. MUX2 vil indeholde DR Ramasjang, DR K, DR HD, Folketingskanalen og DR Update (som flytter fra MUX1).

    MUX1 sender i MPEG-2, indtil år 2012, mens MUX2 sender i MPEG-4 hvor der behøves en Boxer godkendt tuner eller digital modtager-boks (eller tilsvarende) for at se med.

    Sorry for the danish, but this is only relevant for danish users.

    Jeg bruger som sagt DVB-C (YouSee), men de kører vel også med MUX på kablerne?
    Men synes da altid at der bliver optaget på mine analoge tunere hvis den digitale er optaget.

    I use YouSee cable provider , grundpakken, and FireDTV DVB-C, but as I scanned for new channels, MP found DR K and DR Ramasjang, but not DR HD.

    Any ideas why, or does anybody have the channel data i I want to enter manually?

    I don't think I've changed the default setting for H.264 Codec. It's 'MainConcept AVC H.264'. Do I need to change/buy anything?

    Styker:
    When scanning try using the "Global" or "Europe" profile as country and provider "Symbolrate6875". That did the trick for me.

    I also have YouSee cable and FireDTV-C and had a similar problem after performing a complete search. I found all channels except DR-HD. Another user living near me (I live in Odense, he in Nyborg) notified me that the frequency for DR-HD was located at 442000 along with a couple of Canal+ channels. I did a search for only this frequency and DR-HD was found. I'm not sure DR-HD is located the same place in your district, but I believe that the cause is the same.
