hi,
for some weeks a startet a request about the dipslay should show date and time in hibernation/standby-mode.
i have tried it and it works with frontview.
cybrmage said its not possible, so i was not sure anmyore about this.
i have not had the time to test it again till now!
i set frontview to automtic mode and if i hit standby or hibernation now, the display shows me in this modes, date and time.
as prove, i send you two picture of my display. watch to the minutes. everything is gowing forward, like it should.
now i think, many technicly questions are comming up.
therefore here are the informations about my case and the integratet vfd display.
this are a complete test and a discription of my case. more informations about it, i don t have. :

http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/GMC Noblesse AVC-M1/index.php

so, it is possible. look at the two picture as proof! the display can show date and time if the computer is in standby/hibernation-mode.
cybrmage can you plse integrate this function also to you display-driver?

DEMONSTRATION OF SHOWING DATEN&TIME IN HIBERNATION/STANDBY-MODE!

can someone plse verify that?:

go to tv3 and mp -setup. disable all types of powersheduler plugin and display plugin.
go to imon-mamanger. tools/frontview. on general tab you select allways on.
go to the automatic-modus tab and take a look at the standby option.
at this time you only see the options to edit field up and filed down with for example a message. but still is there not more.
now select acept. and select automatic mode for frontview to run, from the imon-icon in the taskbar.
then you open imon-manager again. go to tools\frontview/automtaic/modus standby showing.
now there is a new option that wasn t here bevor!
under the text for the uper and downer filed, you have also an slider that called (in my germany version of imon),
wann closed!
there you can select now, three! new options: show time, standby-message or turn off.
this is the option what the display should do in standby/hibernation and even computer off mode!
if you select time, it shows you a working clock and date in standby/hibernation and even if i shut the computer off.

hope that helps.

As I told you in the Integrated driver thread...

On the VFD hardware I have, it is not supported...

The API exposes no known way to set a clock for the VFD...

So... Unless you can determine the exact commands that the iMON software sends to the VFD to set and display the clock (which I can't do without your specific hardware... tricking the software does not work).... It is not possible.

(...)which I can't do without your specific hardware(... )

i don t understund what you want.
i gave you all the informations about my hardware i have. plse look at the links, i postet.

and..i really, really, don t think that i have special-mega-hardware and this standby-clock works only with my vfd.
i bet a box of becks, that i have anormal soundgraph vfd, like thousands othere people have, too!

(... )Unless you can determine the exact commands that the iMON software sends to the VFD to set and display the clock(...)

sorry cybrmage . this is a technical aspect of the software and your part of the job! i have proven that is possible with software to show time and date in standby/hibernation mode. so i have done my part of the job!
i am no dev and no programmer. i am a enduser only...
the rest is on you.

Actually... You MAY have "special-mega-hardware".

The displays are manufactured by SoundGraph... and MAY be customized by their clients (the company that markets the hardware... ie. GMC or 3Rsystems or Antec or Thermaltake or SilverStone).

So, in actual fact, each specific hardware version can have different operational characteristics.

My VFD hardware is from an original Antec Fusion case... It does not support the features that you describe (in fact, it does not even work with the iMON software).

Since I can't determine what commands are sent to the display to control this feature, I can't add support for it to the driver.

Excuse me?!?!

This is NOT my job. This is a hobby...
As a matter of fact, I don't even use MediaPortal on my HTPC!

Without actually having the same hardware physically attached to my system, or someone who has the hardware willing to help determine what the iMON software is doing... This feature can not be implimented... And I don't see you asking what you can do to help...

If this feature is so important to you, then you should let the iMON software control the display and use the MCE Display plugin to send display data to the display.

hi cybrmage

And I don't see you asking what you can do to help

there you are wrong, and its also not fair to say that. i have spendet a whole night, to verify that the display is working in hibernation/standby. then i createt this thread. so i have spendet many hours of work...

The displays are manufactured by SoundGraph... and MAY be customized by their clients (the company that markets the hardware... ie. GMC or 3Rsystems or Antec or Thermaltake or SilverStone).

all informations, i have about my hardware, i gave you in the links. even the link of the manufacturer!
if you don t find the needed answers there, i can t make nothing. what can i know as enduser, what not even the manufacturer can answer?...by the way as you see, the manufacturer of my case is gmc.

This is NOT my job. This is a hobby...
As a matter of fact, I don't even use MediaPortal on my HTPC!

ok, that was not ok from my side to say that. you are right. i am sorry for this.

sorry, i also can t know this. like i said, i am a enduser only...
and like i said, i don t think that i have special hardware. maybe i am wrong. but till this is not proven, i don t think so...

If this feature is so important to you, then you should let the iMON software control the display and use the MCE Display plugin to send display data to the display.

this is the first time, i hard that there is something like an mce.display plugin. where can i find it?

some sugestions.

look at my demonstartion text. imon manager has even a option for what the display should do in standby/hibernation mode. so i think, its a software and not a hardware thing...

i jumpered my mainboard to give +5v to usb in standby/hibernation. maybe this is the key.

i don t know much about displays, but i thrust my eyes. i have seen that is possible to get time and date in the display in standby/hibernation mode.

by the way. i tried some of you drivers and think you are makeing a good job. go on like this.
