Hi Guys,

I've tried to figure this out before posting, but didn't get much luck. I hope somebody can clarify things for me.

My setup is as follows.

1 win7 x86 PC with my TV card & Latest media portal installed
a win7 x64 client PC

I installed my first machine (with tv card) as a "single seat" setup because I wanted the full install. TV server + full client. This machine is working exactly as I want it to be. My TV works, as does my video /network files etc.

I now want to stream the TV over my LAN to other computers. I have installed the client, and configured it with the IP address of the machine above. However, when I go into the software and try to access TV I get an error message telling me "please specify the ip address or host name of the master tv service". The IP address is correct.

So, I assumed maybe this was a network issue, I m ade sure any firewalls were disabled on the host machine etc. There is nothing being blocked.

So, my question is this. Did my choosing "single seat" option in my install disable the ability for the network streaming somehow?

Should I have just installed the multi seat option, and then the client on the first machine?

I am using a MySQL DB.

Thanks for any replies

Alec.

No, your first intention was right. Singleseat will allow you to watch and to stream.

You should post your logs so experienced users can help you.

I think i am being blind

Where can I find the log files?

Thanks :)

Nevermind! I resolved the issue after reading the log file/s from debug mode.

It wasn't a media portal issue at all.

It was a name resolution issue on the LAN. As my machine has a static IP it hasn't registered its IP address in DNS.

Even though I have specified an IP Address in the MediaPortal client config, the log files suggest it is trying to resolve the name still. I assume as part of a connection string or something.

Anyway, I added the hostname/IP address to the HOSTS file and now the system is working as I expected :)
