Hi,

I have a setup with one server and one client. The server is also used as client. The problem i am facing, is that i want different channels for my both clients, because my server htpc has much better hardware and is capable of HD programs, which my second one is not. So i want to replace the "HD" channels with the normal ones for my second client.

Is there a way to realize that, without having all program channels in both clients?

Hi.
I've got a similar setup. My old Laptop isn't able to playback HDTV. But I still use it for some special reasons as MePo Client. My solution is like this:
In TV-Server Config one can create similar Groups like "SD- Favorites" and "HD- Favorites" witch contains same channels but one in SD the other in HD. Each Client recognizes the last used Channel- Group individually, so you only see the channels you want at the specific client. Only if you change explicit the group on this client, you have to fiddle around with the "wrong" channels.
This works perfect for me.

I was afraid, that this is the only solution. I have my channels grouped by topics ( News Sport, Entertainment etc.), so I have to change that. Is it possible to have certain channels in different groups? I would create a group for the extra client, and keep the Groups for the main client.

Are there possibilities not only to group the channels, but even restrict clients, that they dont have access to the channels at all?

Yes, of course. You can add channels to so much Groups you like.

As far as I know this is not possible but this maybe a useful feature request for future releases of MediaPortal.
