Different priorities for TV cards for live tv and recording (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have two tv cards. One card is equipped with a CI for watching pay tv. For me it happens quite frequently, that recording a non encrypted channel uses the card with the CI. As a result, I can't watch pay tv until the recording is finished.

I tried to give the card with CI the higher priority. That works, if Live TV is on when the recording starts. Otherwise the recording grabs the tv card with CI for the recording.

I tried to give the card with CI the lower priority. That only works if live TV is off when the recording starts or if I am witching an encrypted channel while the recording starts.

Giving a different priority ordering to the tv cards for recording would solve that problem.

If I would do that, I would not be able to record an unencrypted channel an watch another unencrypted channel at the same time. While recording an unencrypted channel, I could only watch an encrypted one (and vice versa). The second card would be of almost no use that way.

can't you just assign the CI card to the lowest priority? This was, encrypted channels would still have to use it, but other recrodings would only use it when no other card was available.

Not sure if this logic is too simple and therefore may not work. I don't have any encrypted channels, so don't know much about the subject.

this would work most of the time. Here is a scenario in which it won't work:

1) I am watching a non encrypted channel

2) a recording of another non encrypted channel starts
-> this would use the card with the CI

3) I want to change to an encrypted channel while the recording is still going on
-> Won't work, because the card with CI is used for recording.


If the priorities were different for recording and watching, I would use it in the following way:

Card with CI: High prio for watching, lo prio for recording
Card without CI: Lo prio for watching, hi prio for recording

This was a non encrypted channel would be recorded on the card without CI. The card with CI would only be uesd for recording, if an encrypted channel should be recorded.
