Direct Iput Device Mapping Error (1 Viewer)

Synopsis: So My problem occurs when trying to map buttons on my game controller (Playstation 2 Controller via a SmartJoy PLUS USB adapter). If I change any of the settings in the Mapping dialog box, I get a heinous looking error box (below) when I try to click OK or Apply. If I haven't changed anything yet, OK works and exits the dialogue box, and cancel always works. Something about writing the settings causes is to hiccup pretty hard.

The dialogue box says:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'MediaPortal.GUI.Library.Key'.

There is a details button, that when clicked, displays the following:
