I run MP on XP SP3 with Catalyst 8.12 and ATI HD3200 onboard video card using VMR9 renderer.
My monitor is a Samsung LCD 1920x1080 Display connected directly to HTPC via HDMI

I ran a display calibration .mp4 video and set brightness level down so that anything at or below level 16 was black and contast level so that 235 and above are white. I believe this is correct because VMR9 only uses 16-235 color space.

When i view starwars 720p mkv rip i notice that when the movie fades to black, the black of the movie is not the same color as the black bars above and below the video. Should i set my contrast level lower so the fade to black is the same black as the black framing bars?

SD and HD are treated differently by ATI cards causing difference in brightness.

You´ll have to add "UseBT601CSC=1" to the registry. Search for it to know exactly where to add it.

Thanks i think i've already done that when i applied the registry tweaks for ati script, i'll double check. I wonder if this might be the problem.
