Simple question. Does MP 1.0.2 work with Win7 32bit? If not, then it looks like I'm done with MP. 1.1.0 is NOT even close to being ready and it's full of nothing but bugs. I can't watch live TV, exit MP, and watch the same channl without error, and now tonight the ONE TV show I wanted to record since the beginning of November failed to record due to some unknown error in TV server. To say I'm not pleased with where MP is at right now would be an understatement.

TV Log attached. Not that it will help get the recording it failed to record.

    Hi kkozma

I am also on Win7 32bit and running MP1.1.0beta1. I am recording between 15 and 20 shows per week and MP never missed a single one. Chances are that it might be a specific hardware or config problem. Unfortunately I am not able to help with your logs, maybe a DEV or tester will find time to look. Your log file span 24 hours and 6500 lines. Maybe it will make it a bit quicker if you can give the starting time of the missed recording. What about the other logs? Can you attach them as well? Hopefully you still have the those for the time of error. (can't remember what server logs are written, tsreader, tswriter, streaming-server???)

I am therefore quite sure that you should not give up yet. I agree, it is sad that you have missed a recording, but if the public has been warned not to run the alpha en beta releases on a production system. It's for testing at own risk.

You can also consider upgrading to latest SVN and see of problems were maybe fixed.

But to answer your question, 1.0.2 is NOT officially supported on Win7. There are people who reported a working 1.0.2 on Win7, but certain parts are know to be problematic. Therefore the recommendation for a production system is XP SP3 or Vista SP1 with MediaPortal 1.0.2.

I'm running the nov 6 or 7 svn...

Here in lies the problem. Vista is crap and XP sucks due to unwatchable screen tearing in flash video, ATI drivers are horrid, and I in general did not have a pleasant MP experience there either. I had issues with 1080i content not deinterlacing and I have extremely poor menu performance after MP has been running for a day or two. Both I feel are bugs, but none of the devs seem to agree. To quick to blame ATI's drivers or my video card isn't up to the task. Well the very same video card exhibits none of the issues in Win7 with MP as it did with XP.

This is a clean windows 7 build. The machine has windows 7, media portal, and SAF 4.0 installed. That's it.

The area of concern for the missed recording starts 2009-11-17 just before 2000hrs trying to record Merry Madagascar. As you can see it attempted to tune the channel and failed for who knows what reason for the entire duration of the show.

I'll attach all of the logs that I have around the time frame...

What exactly video is that "unwatchable screen tearing in flash video"? You mean FLV format of SWF, or what? Do you have some sample to check?

BTW, no problem on ATI driver side for me on XP...

Youtube, hulu, hulu desktop... And even though it's not flash, Netflix is also unwatchable due to screen tearing.

I tried setting up 7MC last night. Honesty, how people can defend that product is also beyond me. Wow. Garbage. No naitive support for mkv or pretty much any other modern codec, DXVA doesn't work. *sigh*

I really do not want to revert back to XP and there's no chance in hell I'll ever install Vista... Talk about frustrating.

Man, i can say there is no tearing at all playing YouTube videos (and all other video media) in MediaPortal using OnlineVideos at all under WinXP and ATI HD4550 + SAF.

Do you have enable VSync in CCC (and Aero under Vista)?

I don't care so much about youtube, Netflix and Hulu are more important. Neither of which will work with onlinevideos. :(

Win7 fixed the problems I had and its wonderful, but now MP itself is virtually unusable.

Is UAC the only thing that holds 1.0.2 back? If so, I lived without it for years with XP, I can live without it in Win7.

Why ? (just out of interest - I know Vista has it's issues, but it's not that bad :) )

    Tony

Very bad experience with it. Crashes out of the box, etc. Most importantly, I already paid for 7.

Please try to understand that 1.0.2 is NOT Windows 7 ready and go with 1.1.0Beta (and maybe also latest sVN build) as there are so many improvements in it for Windows7.

I understand that. However, IMO 1.1 isn't ready either and from what I see, it's not even close.

What are the issues with 1.0.2 and win7? What works and what doesn't?
