Just because I would like some heads-up before spending so much money on hardware that break my system's stability, I am posting my experience here for people to be aware.

TV Card: H727 Avermedia Capture HD
System: MediaPortal HTPC
Windows Seven x64
2 GB RAM
ATI gfx
Samsung 40" TV via HDMI
SoundGraph LED Display and Remote Control

Well I did and bought a rather expensive PCI-E Hybrid TV tuner hoping that it would work with MediaPortal.

I installed it on a fresh Windows Seven x64 and crossed fingers! I even installed their program and scanned, zapped a little bit just for fun. It all worked perfect (Appart from their TV software which crashed when saving settings or sth ...)

Once the TV Server (v 1.0.2) started scanning for analog channels, at ~30%, a BSOD appeared! Yep, my ever first blue screen since I thrown XP away (when Vista64 came out) was a fact! Thanks to the poor driver of AverMedia.
There was not even an antivirus installed on the PC back then.

I tried uninstalling-reinstalling stuff but nothing. Always when scanning analog TV via MediaPortal, I get this crash. It may be at 1% or 30%. Its random.

I packed together lots of screenshots and the minidumps that AverMedia support requested and mailed it to them 20 days ago. Guess what. They did not even reply!

Keep in mind that - to my understanding - H727 is their *best* model for Analog Hybrid PCI-E. But it causes blue screen of death on Seven and Vista x64 (yes I've also tried Vista - heck I've also tried MediaPortal 1.1 beta )

I am not posting this here as a MediaPortal bug because I guess a .NET program would never cause BSOD. I believe it's the AverMedia driver.

Just a heads-up to potential buyers
