I was unsure whether or not post this here - but as it a bug in RC3, here goes

System Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (Intel E6420)

I did a download install files - the download wanted me to get some files which are out of date/in appropriate (I can see why you want them, in case install is elsewhere, not on net)

    WMP11 for the deployment - This isn't required on Windows 7 (or Vista?) - I d/l a version for Windows 7N x64
Directx March 2009 - Feb 2010 is latest the I could download

Suggested Fix - change link/wording to reflect above?

    Priority - Lowest?

    hi alister,

I don't get what you mean. Installer has an option to download all needed "peaces" of software for later usage. And it will take care of downloading from MS using the correct OS settings.

Can you explain in depth where/what fails ?

I have windows 7 (OS) which has windows media player 12 preinstalled.

Mediaplortal deploytool in download mode wants me to download mediaplayer 11 - I should not have to download this as I have 12 (higher version installed)

I did find a download for WMP11 using a link on Windows 7N version.

Also - the current directx download package on the Microsoft Website sit Feb2010 not March2009, thus someone looking for the March2009 file will not find it (easily)

    These are low priority

I think he's saying that the pieces or components that the deployer is requiring for various OS are older versions than what many of us already have loaded on our systems. As if there is a hard-coded list of mandatory components (based on OS) that are revision/distribution date based instead of checking for the app on the system which may be the same app but a higher version/release.

It would seem the deploy tool assures we all have a standard load yet newer versions are available and often times installed if the deploy tool would only recognize them as 'installed' during its inventory scan of components.
