Okay, I'm on the downhill run and have a question for anyone..
I have a dual FUsionHDTV card and a radeon9550. It seems that all of the copdecs I have either don't work (blank screen) or stutter badly. I have been using the MPV decoder which is the most stable but every 10 to 15 minutes, the image freezez and I have to back arrow to the guide in the hope of kick starting it again. Sometimes it's frozen for good. I tried the cyberlink codecs without success. Any advice would be appreciated.

is the locking up more likely to be the graphics card or the tv card?

It could be caused by a number of things....here's some suggestions/queries for you to try:-

Do you get the same result if you use the FusionHDTV application to view TV? (Is your signal level adequate?)

Have you applied all the MS patches - particularly the "multi DVB" patches?

Try using the standard ATI drivers (not the Omega variants).

What speed is your CPU? (It would help if your system specs were complete...)

Is this a dedicated HTPC - or is there something else running in the background hogging resources?

Have you check the CPU usage while viewing TV?

What does the MediaPortal.log file say at the time of the "image freeze"? This will give us the best clue.

As you can see besides your graphics card (which is DX9 so no problem) our systems are not that dissimilar, and i have no problem running any codecs.
Check your cpu readings should with live TV/timeshifting or recording be 10-30 percent depending on which processor you have.

Follow Taipan's advice about the ATI drivers.

Also try latest SVN, which i am running at moment, solves some problems with the usb part of the TVcard.
