I am in the process of reinstalling winxp SP2 and than SP3 I have the requirements printed. I am looking for a duel TV tuner PCI adapter card might have to be digital and analog that will work fine in MP I have read that hauppauge has many audio issues and so far no fixes on those posts and I am really confused about the duel cards which need certain drivers I really to not want a hassle with this. which card works the best for PCI with less issues. if you direct me to link how to hook up the hardware it would be great.

PC is a P3 3.0 GHZ 2GB ram

two 80Gb HD

graphics card is Nvidia 7600GS with a S video connection and one dvi and one VGA connection

I would like to be able to install ubuntu on partition on the first drive alone with winXP but how much space does MP need I know how much a install of winxp with SP3 so the addition of the required software for MP full install might be 15 to 20 GB?

I am just thinking of dividing the first drive in half and using the other for data is a good way to go?

See what I mean about the Country :)

The only one I know is the Hauppauge hvr2250 dual atsc\analogue tuner, for audio codec, I would choose ffdshow's latest, as this works for a lot of audio that seems to give issues with other codecs, especially with sound in mpeg1 format.

it doesn't look like you will get a dual tuner on PCI for the US market. You can get a dual digital and analogue card, but only one tuner for each.

I would recommend the Hauppauge cards personally. Well supported and updated regularly as well.

    hello

i have tried a big variety of analouge, digital and hybrid cards and my resume:

i can recommend hauppauge as well too, they works almost without problems and audio/video-quality is always fine.

but: i nearly never get both tuners of an hybrid-card (not only hauppauge) worked at the same time in MediaPortal... or not without hang-up the card, when switching between the tuners.

so i am using now an hybrid hauppauge card only for DVB over terrestical (wich will be called ATSC in the US, but here in Germany it has such a poor quality, so you can call it for analogue quality ;-) and an additional card with DVB over cable (which supports HD and best quality here in Germany... i using it instead of Satelite-TV)

and this will be my recomendation too: take 2 cards! one for analouge and one for digital. there are so much more benefits with that and MediaPortal.. you can record one programme and view another one ... or you can even record 2 programms at the same time ;-))

the prices for analouge cards are so low, that it really doesn't matters anymore (just take a look over ebay for a used one)

and you don't have to think about compromises in quality or options/compatibility with MediaPortal for your digital card, wich IMHO will be the important one.

the manufactor i generally can not recommend is pinnacle... none of this cards works stable under any circumstances (even not with the original bundled Software).

    best regards,
    resa

I run two different (1 x single, 1 x dual) USB DVB-T tuners on my Vista + MP 1.0.2 system and they work fine.
