DVB EPG, MyZinc plugin not working (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, thanks in advance for your reply,

I am building an HTPC for my living room, and figured since MediaPortal is open source it would be a better choice than MCE.

I got it up and running after a few patches for XP and now it can access the TV-Server just fine and has access to all of our local channels. But i'm still having a few issues...

1) In the TV-Server settings I have EPG set to be collected both when idle and while viewing, and if I got down to the manual control tab, it says that my tuner's status is indeed "Grabbing EPG".

I tried searching for this issue on the site earlier, and found a note in the manual that while a set top box may get EPG data in 5 minutes it could take MP up to an hour. So I let the process sit for an hour. Still no EPG data.

Is there a setting i'm missing? I would really like to get the DVB EPG data without having to install a plugin that has to get it off the internet.

2) I would also like the home theater program I am using to have access to hulu and netflix. I thought that if I could just run Zinc inside of MP this would solve the issue. I installed Zinc and the MyZinc plugin, and MyZinc was added as an option to the main MP menu. However when I click on it, it simply brings me to a blank screen with a button to launch Zinc, which does nothing.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Legomaniac

    Need a bit more information.

What version of MP are you using?

    What country are you in?

Re MyZinc, have you read the Plugin's respective forum thread? - does it shed any light on the issue?

This is what the log file is posting, just that same string repeated...

I have the timeout in the settings set for 20 minutes, so why is it dropping after only a few seconds?

    Thanks again,

    Legomaniac

P.S. Just added my system profile, sorry I didn't have it earlier
Looks like the most signifigant think I learned from that is that I am running a 64bit processor, could this perhaps be the reason?
    Thanks again...

64-bit cpu not an issue. There is a lot of existing information in the Forum about how to set up EPG for USA, perhaps do some reading and it may become clear how to get it working. I am in Australia ...

Sorry, but I don't think I was specific enough...

There ARE lots of threads about getting WEB epg to work in the U.S.

I have even found one thread where someone asked specifically how to get OTA EPG to work in the US because his other media center software did so successfully.. https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/installation-configuration-support-53/ota-epg-u-s-51892/

However his question was directed to web epg, because the people replying to him seemed to think that the OTA EPG wasn't specific or long enough.

I personally don't care how long into the future my EPG data goes, I would just like to get it OTA, but have not been able to find any specific answer as to weather or not this is possible.

So let me rephrase the question... is OTA EPG even possible in the US with mediaportal?

Thanks again, sorry if I seemed a little defensive but I have lead a LOT of threads and reading more threads doesn't seem to help the issue.

    Thanks,
