Hi everyone I'm in the UK, I'd like to buy a DVB-T tuner card or USB stick, that comes with a remote control that has been tried and tested and works with MediaPortal software.

My current TV card is a Compro Videomate T-220, which works great using my PC mouse, but getting the remote control to work in MediaPortal has been a nightmare!.

I'm in london, (using the Crystal Palace transmitter), I'm only interested in viewing / recording the Freeview TV channels here. I don't need a dual tuner a single tuner card or USB stick is fine, and my budget is in the region of £60 or (70 euros) give or take.

Any suggestions or advice on my best options would be greatly appreciated, the most important thing is the remote control must work in MediaPortal using Windows XP-SP3, or alternatively Windows 7 Pro (32bit), I'm dual booting both of these operating systems. many thanks

Available slots on my motherboard, PCI or PCI-E or PCI-E x1 or USB

The Peak tuner cards are supposed to be good. Have a look on Amazon, they are usually really cheap.

Thanks, I can see the PEAK DUAL DVB-T Digital TV PCI Card on Amazon for £23 which is a good price, the thing is will their remote work with MediaPortal? If anyone is using the Peak card, please let me know your opinions.

The reason I prefer to use MediaPortal software is because of the 3 PVR's I've tested, MediaPortal, Windows 7 Media Center, & Compro Videomate software, MediaPortal gives me the best picture quality by a long shot, don't know why this is, but it's true.

I have the Peak dual tuner card and it works really well - I was surprised as I got it off eBay and paid very little for it. I also have a Hauppage Win TV 500?? (box and card currently under the stairs, so working from memory on the ref code  ) but the Peak card provides a far better picture, and seems to be more sensitive to poor signals, hence me leaving the Peak card in the TVPC and putting the Hauppage card back in its box.

I don't use the remote for the card so I cannot comment; I use the Soundgraph iMon pad which came with the HTPC case, which works a treat with MP.

    HTH,

I am using one and have tried many different TV cards over the last few years. This is by far the best. Just works, is rock stable, handles standby, seems to cope if strength dips a little, channel change is quick... better than a lot of more expensive cards I now have gathering dust in a cupboard
