I recently contacted BlackGold (makers of my DVB cards) asking about their plans to support DVB-S2 and DVB-T2, I though users may be interested in their reply....

The BGT3595 card, which includes DVB-S2 is scheduled for OEM customer release in early 2010. Price details will be available at that time.

BGT3595 - BlackGold

Unfortunately DVB-T2 is currently a peculiarly UK rollout. The UK is the only place worldwide with immediate plans to use T2. This means that there has been no worldwide drive for chipset manufacturers to provide DVB-T2 solutions and none are currently available.

BlackGold will certainly be looking to offer a product once silicon becomes available, but this isn't currently expected before Q2 2010 at the earliest.

Kind regards,

    Hi Cheezey

There's very little info out there about any dvb-t2 products, except to say, they will be coming along around spring\summer 2010 :(

Would be nice to checkout Winter Hill's transmissions now though, think will wait and see if someone comes up with a dual dvb-t2\dvb-S2, now that would be future proof :)

Think its a case of wait and see.

After that we'd just have to wait for MP to support DVB-T2

Hope this is released soon! I'm planning on a HTPC & Server overhaul the moment it does :). Nothing to do with the card btw, just time to overhaul everything...

A great card, but still no good for UK terrestrial HD though :(

The BGT3595 is designed to transform a personal computer to a high-end audio video entertainment system supporting multiple external video streams and High Definition (HD) broadcast streams. (Worldwide DVB-S, S2 and DVB-T HD streams, not UK DVB-T2 HD)

Really don't believe any pc component manufacturer will roll out any T2 cards until more Countries take up the format, just do not think it viable for the UK only.

If a company does roll out a DVB-T2 card, how long would it take for MP to support this function.

Is it a fairly simple process of porting the module from the DVB-S system over to the DVB-T section in MP, or is it going to be a major re-write.

I know this is a bit of a difficult question to answer (especially when no DVB-T2 card exists), but it would be great to get a reasonable idea, so I can decide to go down the DVB-S2 route.
