TV - HTPC Connection:

Hello everyone ,i am new here so pleas ber with me:)
I baught my first HTPC or media pc components last weekend, and have now installed everything .I started out with the plan of using Zoom player and ffdshow++ but i found it to be a bit confusing. I have earlyer been a big user and fan of XBMC so wen i heard about Mediaportal i was shure that media portal is the way to go for me.

The main idea for my htpc is to play music ,dvd, and HD\.ts files with it.
I am using a LG 42px4r plasma tv for display, with native resolution 1024x768.

Her comes the questions:

Interlaced\progressive
Is there annyway of setting descaler to automaticly detect if i am playing interlaced movies or not.Becaus wen i watch 1080i files without de-interlacing i gett a lot of stripes on the screen.I havent tryed playing 720p files yet but i gues that picture quality will suffer if de-interlcing is switched on wile progressive video signals.I am using Dscaler for movie files.

Post prossesing and DVD playing:

Wen it comes to dvd playing i am realy not shure how to get the posible picture quality. As i mentioned earlier i am running 1024x768 resolution,so how do i gett dvds to play with the best posible caulity and still fit with my resolution? What codecs and post prosesses should i run?

Pleas exscuse the bad english but i am Norwegian ,deal with it hehe.
Thanks in advanced to everyone.
:D

U might want to try using NVIDIA PureVideo decoder (note free). Not only this will make the PQ better, smoother and sharper and the colors more vivid but it will also enable hardware acceleration on your NVIDIA Video controller thus freeing up a lot of CPU resources.

At least that's what I use for all my MPEG2 encoded files both SD and HD sources

I have tried using Purevideo, but de-interlace never worked:(What are yor settings for Purevideò?

i use the following settings

nView Support is set to Prefer VMR9
De-Interlace mode is set to Best available
De-Interlace Control is set to Automatic

make sure Hardware Acceleration is checked although that is the default option.
