Open PowerDVD right click, configuration, under Audio, speaker setup: SPDIF

Windows configuration, device manager, audio devices, make sure speaker setup is set to digital output or SPDIF. If applicable, make sure here as well that Supported formats DTS and AC3 or Digital Dolby are checked (you can get here via Windows media player as well)

In general you must make sure that in any audio codec that is installed on your system that AC3 and DTS are send to SPDIF directly, check the website/home page of each codec for support how to do that. Also in the Mediaportal configurator, make sure the powerDVD codecs under directshow filters and MPA codec are also set to send DTS/AC3 to SPDIF.

I know it is a hassle to get everything right, it took me two weeks of trial and error!
