Synopsis::

Playing a DVD ("The Island") in MediaPortal locked up my entire system twice tonight. Frozen image, no mouse or keyboard input (including Ctrl-Alt-Del), frozen VFD display, and loud, looping buzz coming from the audio.

The first time was when I attempted to jump back by 30 seconds (I had previously done this several times with no problem);

The second time was just in the middle of playback when I wasn't doing anything.

I've watched quite a few movies with PowerDVD on this system, and never had any problems. I finally got MP's DVD player configured and working with AC3 audio, but now this new wrinkle...

I had a similar problem using the cyberlink codecs in Media Portal (the program would lock if I pressed the stop button whilst playing a DVD). What I did was change the Audio Renderer to 'Default Direct Sound Device' instead of 'Cyberlink Audio Renderer (PDVD6)' in the Configuration program (DVD->DVD Codec).
