It only happens on certain DVD. So far, all the DVD in the LOST boxset face this same problem. The DVD start to play flawlessly but when it come to a chapter break, the screen will go blank and no sound is output from the machine. I check the DVD drive and it is still playing. Pressing the remote will not yield any response (including the green button etc...) The only way to get back to Media Portal is to eject the DVD and it'll go back to the main page and operation can be resume normally.

Also, need to ask, how can I change the DVD navigator from Microsoft DVD Navigator to Nvidia DVD Navigator? Suspect this might be the issue although it work fine under ZoomPlayer.

it could also be some type of copy protection. I get this with only some DVDs, but usually the whole disk will not play.
You can download a program like AnyDVD (not free) that can sit in your system tray and remove the protection from the disk on the fly.
You can also try different codecs. The commercial ones include support for some copy protection and there is also a free alternative to anydvd, but I can't remember the name at the moment.

Thanks for the info. Anyway, WinDVD 7 play without any hitch. I'll try to rip the DVD into my HD and remove copy protection to see if this work.

I've never seen that issue before with copy protection... What hollywood company is the movie from?

I have the same issue but just fixed it with some codecs that mediaportal had.

I try again in MediaPortal by changing the video codec to Intervideo (WinDVD) and it's working fine until end of the episode and the same problem happen again. Might be some settings that I need to try.
