I am looking to house 300+ DVDs on a Hard Disk solution, have thumbnails to browse and select movies to play. Is Media Portal a viable solution for this application?

Thanks

P.S. I have been toying with it a bit and I am having difficulty making it work. Any documentation you can point me to woud be most appreciated.

I think MP would be perfect for what you desire. If you want to "lock it down" then this would also be possible by editing the skins to remove access to certain areas, like exiting windows.

It may take you a while to scan in your movie database though, in order to give all the details, actor information and plots.

For general support, there is a Wiki: https://www.team-mediaportal.com/mpwiki

For anything more specific, just search first then post here if you still have no luck. We're always happy to help, provided you use the support template and give us useful information. https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=2766

Thank you for the replay and information. When I use either an internal or external player, I am unable to get MP to play a decoded DVD. On the disk it is in a directory titled the same as the movie and within that is the VIDEO_TS folder which contains the assets (.IFO and .VOB files). I could not find any posting or instructions on how to format or even play these files. Any insights?

Also what is the stack / unstack feature all about?

    Thanks
