Dvico Fusion - black screen (1 Viewer)

I have two Dvico FusionHDTV DVB-T Plus cards and an nividia 7500GT PCIE GPU. My preferred decoder is Purevision. The system runs well out of MCE and the Dvico PVR software.

I have gone through the manuals (?) and followed the setup instructions.

After installing Media Portal the cards are detected and the local transponder/ channel list is correctly generated.

However, selecting a channel in My Tv will tell me the TV is on but the picture is black. There are no signal issues.

I have tried Purevision, the media portal supplied (MPV) codec and the dvico zulu codecs.

None will give me a picture - I only get a black screen. Ther is no sound either.

Hi GuiGuy and welcome to MediaPortal .... :)

Could you please post your complete system specifications (there is a template available for this, and it is useful to fill in your system specs in your CP), and attach all the MediaPortal log files that were generated when you experienced this issue - this may give us some clues as to the cause of your blank TV screen.

    half way there :)

Posting your log files will also help a lot.
Close MP then Restart, go to MyTV and turn on the TV. Then close MP and go to \team mediaportal\mediapotal\logs and post your MediaPortal and error logs here. The restart will help ensure only the relevant data is included.

For the first question about the TV server version, there is also the new TV version (links on the home page) that also may help you, but beware that the setup is more involved...

FIXED: This part is now fixed- I have a boot image that takes me back to a 'clean' install. II restored it. I can change channels OK now

There are other issues. I will start a new thread.

    DVICO FusionHDTV Television Video CODEC

Black/blank screens in TV Mode are because you are not using the correct Video CODEC.

In MediaPortal Setup, select "Television" and set the "Video codec:" to "Zulu HDTV DxVA Decoder(BDA)".

Note that you will see multiple "Zulu HDTV..." CODECs, make sure that you choose the "DxVA" variant.

FYI: I also use "Audio codec: MPA Decoder Filter", "Audio renderer: Default Direct Sound Device" and "Deinterlace mode:Best".

Thanks. I was aware of the codec issues but prefer Purevideo. I got to a point where I have everything more or less working, including the local EPG which, here in Australia, is more difficult then it ought to be.

The only thing now stopping me from using MediaPortal is the remote control. I tried HIP and some other suggestions from around the place, but it all seems to "rustic" and bewildering. It certainly isn't good enough to please "Her Indoors". :D

    regards

Check out the GetOzTvGuide TV/EPG plugin that I just added last night. It's an offline MediaPortal utility to update its TV Guide using JRobbo's XMLTV guides.

It includes a comprehensive step-by-step guide on how to set it and MediaPortal TV up (this is why the download is so big). The utility itself is small and once configured is easy to run.

As far as a remote goes, just spend $50 at a market and and get a MCE remote. They are tough (kid-proof), reliable and work out of the box with XP (Pro & MCE) and Mediaportal.
When you are happy with that, move on to using the MCE replacemnet driver with it, which gives loads more functionality like running scripts/macros/external programs and lots more.
I'm not an M$ lover but their remotes are great value. What is really cool is that if you have two HTPCs, you can use one remote for both when one goes missing (bl00dy kids! hehe).
Your missus will also like that she only needs to learn one remote's buttons.
