This has been discussed before.
Have someone looked into the feature of saving TV show info
into the dvr-ms container?

I had my hopes for this to be done in 0.1.2.0
Have not found the time to look into the issue myself, and
I have a bit of a threshold doing it, since C# is not my cup of tea.

I think saving this data into the dvr-ms file container would improve
MP a lot.
- Saved shows would still have the story info.
- More robust when changes in the database is made, still possible to see what's in the file, wich episode etc.

Of course this have to be implemented in myVideos so that it reads the information from the dvr-ms file if present.

From earlier discussion sam provided this link describing the dvr-ms file format:

Let's use the good things with dvr-ms!!!

That would be a better way of doing it most likely. It seems at the moment MP keeps a record of shows recorded outside the tvdatabase because from 0110 -> 0120 -> latest cvs the databases changed but my recorded shows still remained.

Um... this actually does happen. Show/episode data is actually stored in the DVR-MS file itself, unless of course there is a bug. And, on startup, MP will scan all your DVR-MS files in your recorded TV folder and import them.

As I said on another thread, if you want to have a look at the DVR-MS metadata, see this:

If there is a bug, please report it - I can't record TV right now because I've run out of room and I can't convert them to WMV...

I recently applied a CVS and the recorded TV information didn't show. I have many programs recorded using 0.1.2.0, but these showed up with a title of 'Unknown' in the latest CVS version.

    OK.
Upgraded from 0.1.0.10 where it was no info stored in the dvr-ms,
so all my imported shows turns out as unknown.
To see if it info was stored in 0.1.2.0, I looked at a new recording made in 0.1.2.0 in my Videos, but it did not show any more than the filename. I guess it is not implemented to read that infu under myVideos, only under myTV/Recordings.
I also looked into the files with a viewer thinking the info should be saved in plain ascii, but did not see anything in the new recordings. Maybe it is not saved in ascii, so...

I will do a new test when I get home.
I'll copy a recording to another disc. Then delete the recording under recorded TV. Then copy back the recording to the recording folder and see if it pops up in recorded tv with all info. will rename it before copying it back.

Is there another, better way to verify that info is written to the dvr-ms file?

by the way, the grouping of recorded TV shows in 1.2.0 works really good.
