DVR-MS Support (1 Viewer)

I'm fairly new to MediaPortal having spent probably the best part of two/three years using Win7 64 MediaCentre. Now I've been fairly happy with this but want to try out a new HTPC set-up (which also needs to pass the WAF factor!), but there is one thing stopping me from switching wholeheartedly - reading a shed load of dvr-ms recorded tv files (converted from wtv format using WTV Watcher).

All these recordings don't show up in Recorded TV so I'm assuming MP doesn't recognise this format and therefore won't play them - is this right? I can't find any posting or FAQ that confirms or denies this. I've seen the WTV plugin, but again it doesn't suggest it'll play dvr-ms files or in fact if there is any other plugin to play dvr-ms. The only conclusion I'm coming to is to convert them to avi or mp4.

Help! I'm on the cusp of switching, but this is holding me back, however I'll convert the files if necessary, but wanted to see if there was a quick way to play these before embarking on that.

Hello and welcome! =)
Recordings which are done with MediaPortal are stored as .ts files. Therefore I assume only .ts files will show up in Recorded TV.

But to be sure you have to add .wtv to the video extension list first! (MP Config -> Videos -> Video Extension -- only visible in Expert Mode)

If your recordings still don't show up in Recorded TV you can watch them with MyVideos.

(Note: You need a Video Codec that can deal with .wtv files like for example: LAV Filters)

EDIT:
If I misunderstood you and your file extension is .dvr-ms instead of .wtv just add this to the video extension list.
MediaPortal can play all files as long as you have installed codecs which are capable to play these files.

EDIT2:
I just took a look at the video extension list myself and saw that .dvr-ms is already added as extension. So I think you have to play your recordings via MyVideos. Stupid me...

Thanks Holzi, yes the files are already in DVR-MS format. I'll take a look at MyVideos and give that a go.
