Email Plugin {Idea} (2 Viewers)

Hi all...

I'm no programmer these days, I lost track of all that about 8 years ago, but anyway, last night, while sitting on my sofa, watching a film using MP, I received an SMS telling me that I had an e-mail that was quite urgent to read, this meant pausing the film, going upstairs to the office, and doing an email check, replying, then going back downstairs, and it suddenly occured to me, that what MP is missing as an email (maybe POP3) plugin, the issue is the cheap and nasty TV I currently have, the fonts when i browse the internet and such are just about readable, but not very clear atall. Is anyone working on an email pluging for MP that would allow the checking of a pop3 account?

Just as a point, I'm using Gmail, which uses SSL to connect, I don't know if this would create problems.

Just an Idea, I think it would be very useful.

There is already a plugin who do this, atleast in svn. Seems to be working fine. You have to enable it in configuration.

Ir would be nice to have a feature when getting an urgent email or phone call, that you could just press a button on the remote and it would pause the movie (or Tivo pause the TV) and then take you to that urgent call/email then when you finish (agian with one button) it would allow you to resume the movie/TV back to where you left off. Now that would be integrated!

Looks like the MCE replacement plugin may be able to do this very soon. At the Speed Andy is coding it's probably already able too.

The talk was to be able to perform events based on messages from plugins.

The ISDN caller-ID plugin has it already since almost its beginning. *g* No, ISDN is not dead!
