Error getting categories (1 Viewer)

Hy. Youtube and many others don't work. The message is always "Error getting categories".
One of the few working is Yahoo Music Videos.
Does anyone know something to help me?

Actually the most sites are working. The problem is only Youtube that is the most important for me. When I choose one of the categories (Most recent, most viewed, HD content etc.) the result is always "Error getting category video".
I can't use the search function neither.
Is something about RSS feeds?

Can you ping gdata.youtube.com? It seems that your pc does not know how to reach that site.

You are right. I'm online, I can go to Youtube site with Firefox but I can't ping gdata.youtube.com.
It's very strange, because in all the other 5 PC in the same lan I can ping that address.
Here the message is immediate: 'Impossible to find the host gdata.youtube.com'
Have you any idea of why?

Can you ping to 66.102.13.118 (this is the ip-address of gdata.youtube.com)?

If not: it could be some firewall settings
If possible: it could be a dns-issue, or a lmhosts thing

Ok. I've found a solution.
I added to hosts file the line '66.102.13.118 gdata.youtube.com' and now it works.

Nice to hear that it works.
Although I do think that you somehow get to the root of the problem, because manually add things to the hosts file should not be neccesary.
F.e. if gdata.youtube.com gets a new ip, then you're of the hook again.

I apologize for bumping this old thread but instead of creating my own thread I figured I'd post my problem here.

When I try accessing my favorites in the Youtube section I get the following error

"Error getting category videos"

Accessing my subscriptions works though.

Any idea on what could be wrong?
