error getting site overview message (1 Viewer)

Hi

installed 0.19 - very impressed!

One problem when I go to update i get an error: "Error getting site overview from web service"

Is there a reason why this happens, using MP 1.1 RC1, on windows 7

You probably have UAC turned on. Try running MediaPortal as admin (right click ...). This will be fixed with next release.

Please post your logfile from a run with this error.

logs attached, i tried run as admin still the same problem, couldn't run as admin in debug mode, MP crashed!

The log says: The request failed with HTTP status 417: Expectation failed.

No idea what this means. I just tried the AutoUpdate from here and have no such error. So I think the server side is fine.

I'm guessing your firewall or some other network tools block something?

A quick google told me that this could happen if you are using a proxy that can't handle 100-continue calls.

Hi

you have hit the nail on the head!, my firewall can't handle continue 100, it's an http 1.1 feature.
Not sure why .net uses this method, i have only had this problem once before it was with .net again.
I'll try to find out what the proxy is doing
