Hi

I'm having some problems with my HD channels and EVR. The picture is either zoomed in so that perhaps 1/5 of the screen is visible or stuttering (720p) or just a complete mess depending on the channel. This is after a format+install of the OS/MP1.0. WMR9 works fine. Anyone else got the same issues and/or a possible solution ?

I noticed another thing, i mentioned in another thread that i got random freezes when i go back from live tv to f.e the main window. This doesn't seem to occur when i use EVR for some reason , only when i use VMR9. Which is a bit annoying since i can't watch any of the HD channels using EVR.

Here's a part from the evr.log

320*240 must be incorrect (1080i) and probably the reason for:

The picture is either zoomed in so that perhaps 1/5 of the screen is visible

And here's what i get when i try a 720p channel:

I'm still having this problem when using EVR. The picture is "zoomed", and it says 320*240 as in the logs above when i try to watch a HD channel.

Is the HD stream mpeg-2 or h.264 ?

Is the codec using DXVA ?

Have you tried the PowerDVD (MPEG-2/h.264) or MPC-HC (h.264) codecs ?

Have you tried updating the nVidia drivers - 158.24 are quite old (I'm currently using 181.22 on a 9500GT) ?

I've tried with different codes but i'm using Core AVC right now. And i'm using rather new drivers, probably forgot to update my preferences. The streams are, but that's a guess, all h.264. 1080i if i'm not mistaken. I have one channel , SVT HD , that i know uses 720p and that channel gives me other problems, as i mentioned above.

But it seems weird that it reports 320*240 in the evr.log. Not sure why this should be affected by the codec.

Have you got Aero enabled in Vista ? - EVR works better with it enabled.

Do you have problems playing HD files outside of MP ? (try playing a recording made with MP in something like MPC-HC)

Make sure that 'raw video' isn't enabled in the FFDShow codecs section, otherwise it might be inserting itself into the video filter graph.

Which version, this sounds a bit like the behaviour 1.6 had, but if other codecs have similar issues, may well be graphics setting, rather than codec.

I upgraded CoreAVC from 1.9 to 1.9.5 and updated the drivers to 182.5, same problem.

But, now i know how to get a "normal" picture, disable deinterlacing.

I tried with bob, hardware, single field, all renders either a small part of the screen or a completely garbled picture. None (Weave) works like a charm, doesn't look very nice though.

    Any ideas ?

Having the same problem, I will try and disable the deinterlacing tonight and see if it works. Thanks
