Hi,

I want to execute scripts (mount/unmount truecrypt files) inside mediaportal.

Till now I used myprograms alt ( Link ) to do so, even if it was a workaround as well. But it seems, that it's no longer working in the newer skins created for RC1. Multishortcut isn't working in RC1, too. Is there any other plugin or function inside mediaportal capable to execute a .bat or .vbs script? I searched since a long time, but wasn't able to find one. Another option on my mind is to use two keys on the MCE remote, one for a mount script , another one for a umount script. Do anyone has an idea how to do one of both tasks?

Thanks

Hi neelex,

i noticed you thread as i posed a similar question a couple of weeks back and didn't get a reply.

Are you talking about running a script to mount something (sorry, no idea what truecrypt is) so it becomes available ready for playback?

If so, i'm currently working on a patch for both moving pictures and mp-tvseries that i hope will allow you to specify a custom script to run before playback begins and then wait a set amount of time for the file to become available.

I don't know whether it will get accepted into the main code for the 2 apps as i haven't got that far, but i'm hopeful it will. I suppose i could supply a custom .dll if it doesn't.

My selfish aim for doing it was because i want to automatically turn on the correct usb hard drive via an rf transmitter and remote plug when someone selects something on it for playback. Sometimes my laziness surprises even me!

Let me know if it sounds like something that might be of interest to you and i'll keep you posted.

Hi eggyman,

let's explain a little more. Truecrypt is a tool that encrypts data in a container. If mapped it appears as a drive letter. For example I have my private photos in such a container and need to run a script before to map the container to a drive before looking to the pictures. I want to do that in MS as the machines runs Mediaportal automatically So I need a possibility to have a menu item in home screen which executes these scripts or leads to a menu where I can start a on script and a off script. Execute a script before entering my photos (that's your idea if I'm right) would be possible, too.

Would be nice if you would keep my updated :D

Cheers,
Neelex

i think my thing is not quite what you're looking for.
I was planning on implementing tv-series and moving pictures so that a script would run when you select a file for playback.

I guess the same idea could be implemented by core MP so a script executes before entering each sub-module (or whatever they're called. Eg, pics, music, etc) but considering i've been looking at MP related code for all of about 2 hours i think thats way above me!

You can use IR Server to run a script or any file with a specific button on the remote, I know this isnt exactly what you wanted but it would work unless you have a bunch of scripts like that and want to single them out.

Thanks for that hint. I will try with IR Server!

Just to confirm, IR Server works fine! Actually it's much more better pressing keys on the remote as browsing through the menu. Why haven't I tried IR Server before? :D One small thing. Since using IR Server, the Monitor don't "wake up" if going black due tue idle time. Could that changed with a configuration setting in IR Server?
