Googling this error points to a problem with a codec and the recommended solution was to inactivate the file Mpeg2DecFilter.ax by renaming it or by using the InstalledCodec v1.06 app to disable it. I found the file in question at C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal.I am reluctant to disable the file lest MediaPortal (which I have quickly grown to love) stops working.
