I just found this out, don't know if anyone knew this:

My MCE receiver is placed near a lamp with a CFL (dutch: spaarlamp = CFL?) lightbulb. When i turn the lamp on, it takes about 5 seconds to become bright. But when it shines the light on the MCE receiver starts blinking.

I found this out after I was trying all night to try to learn new IR commands. I kept getting the "failed to learn IR" error. So i decided to switch everything off, and found out the CFL lamp was the cause.

Anyone who can explain this? I hope this helps other people with the same error.

    Hey generator,

Yes, I've found that some light bulbs will cause Infrared interference.

On my development PC I have to keep the receiver in the shade of the monitor or the light in the room will cause interference.

Sunlight can cause problems too, so can plasma screens I believe (though I don't have one so I don't know this from experience).

    Cheers,

Yesterday I captured all my remotes IR codes with succes, but after i closed the plugin it stopped working again.

For some reason i've got the same problem again (the "failed to learn IR" error). There is nothing interfering now though.

Does anyone know what I could try to fix this problem? I only need to learn about 5 new IR codes that I forget to enter yesterday.

There can be IR learning reliability problems with the current MCE Replacement plugin, I'm hoping to have this sorted out in the next release.

In the meantime all I can recommend is restarting the computer and trying again... Sorry.

    Cheers,

It usually will work with a bit of trial and error... try unplugging and re-plugging in the receiver. There should be a new release in a week or two.

    Cheers,
