I am trying to capture some IR codes. Whenever i try to learn new codes, after I press a button on the remote and release it I get the "failed to learn iR codes" error. the error is displayed immediately after I release the bottom. I've tried with several different remotes including MCE remote, all with the same results.

    any ideas?

Can you please post your log files?

I'd need to take a look at them to determine why this is happening.

    Thanks,

ok, you'll need to run input service configuration and make sure that there is a check in both the boxes for the Microsoft MCE device.

There is a bug with the direct input support in the version you're running which is causing a little trouble... make sure you disable the direct input support.

This should all be fixed in a new version coming in the next couple of days.

    Cheers,

How do you disable the direct input support?

One more question, how do I configure MP so that when I press VOL+ and VOL- on the remote, the IR suite will blast an IR command to my receiver?

    Thanks for the excelent support,

don't worry about direct input thing, it'll be fixed in the next release.

To send an ir blast for a button press you would use the MP Control Plugin. Learn the commands you want to blast, then go to Map Buttons and set the action for volume up and volume down to Blast IR and select the ir file to blast.

    Good luck,

No luck. I checked both boxes for the Microsoft MCE device, I still get the "failed to learn iR codes".

I have managed to map bottoms to blast IR command, however I found out that the volume bottoms (and maybe additional bottoms, I didn't check) don't work at all, as soon as I use the MP Control Plugin. I can't map the volume bottoms to blast commands or use them to control MP volume as in their default configuration.

clear the remotes map and add the Full MCE Remote mapping preset.

also, wait for the next preview release of 1.0.4.2 and try again with it... it will be available by the end of this weekend.

    Thanks,

I seem to be having the exact same problem. I should admit, however, that I am an extremely new user and have never gotten the program to respond to my MCE remote. I believe I installed 1.0.4.2 Preview 5.

I've fixed the problem I was having. I had to install the Replacement Driver to even get the thing to work at all on my system.
