Hi,

Thank you all for showing your appreciation after fanart handler got it's own subsection in this forum. I really appreciate that. It has been quite a while since last version and alot has happened.

htbackdrops has worked really hard and migrated their database and released a new API. A big thank you to the people behind htbackdrops for their hard work and for allowing us to use their excellent site.

This thread is created because;

• of the major changes to this plugin after the new htbackdrops API
• the rework of alot of the code in fanart hanlder
• the added new features in this release

I don't feel confident enought to release a new version before releaseing this Beta. So: this is a Beta and not a release version. This means that you should only install it on your test system. You should backup the fanarthandler database and all /thumbs/skin fanart images before installing it. And please, it you decide to test this Beta, report any issues (or if it works well ).

Change Log (version 2.1.1 to 2.2)

• new feature: htbackdrops have released a new API (new database) and this is the first version of Fanart Handler that supports it.
• new feature: Scraper now scrapes artist thumbnails from htbackdrops
• new feature: Latest added picture, movie, tvseries, tv recordings and music properties available
• new feature: Moving Picture fanart (random) now respects parental control
• bug fixed: many small bugs has been fixed (like sraping for new images failed from time to time).

WARNING
Because of the new htbackdrop database and API image duplication check will no longer work. The only unique id before was the URL to the image but since this now is changed I have no way of detecting duplicates. New API supports Image IDs and this is now implemented and should assure that future changes to htbackdrops wont affect the fanart handler. If you want to be sure not to get duplicated images the only way is to (from fanart handler configuration) delete all music fanart images (Delete All Fanart button in configuration), reset the scraper (Reset Scraper button in configuration) and finally do a new scrape (Start Scraper button in configuration). If you don't mid duplicates or handles this in the configuration you do not have to to this "reset" step. And, please remember that doing so would cause alot of load on the htbackdrop site.

Tnx For the update!!.
I tested the scraper now and it updates the new additions on HTBackdrop site.!!....

Only thing i cannot understand why it doesnt pickup "C+C Music Factory". I uploaded the pic myself and the name is exactly the same as the track.
Only thing i can imagine it has something to do with the "+" in the name. Unfortunaly thats the groups name.

i test version 2.2 with MP 1.1.1 , this report focus on the screper's artist fanart and artist thumbnails ,
i test it on 250 artist with option to get 10 fanart (tack long time ... ) but the 2 scraper's work wall ...
all imeag's corect not even 1 misstick .... great work ....

1- the artists U2 and UB40 rename to : U2 = u , UB40 = ub . is this sopuse to be ?
2- in configration - music fanart - fanart overview , for some reson i got some artists name that i dont have in my collection
like : bijok , bo kaspeis orkester ,the goo goo dolls .... from 250 artist on my collection abut 30 artist i dont know wher they come from,

this test was on a frash install of mp , did not use and back up settings file evrting frash ...

ho 1 more thing , i dont know if is MP1.1.1 or the plugin but animations when the fanart chang is to fast the fanart now is jumping in
like rally fast ....need to look in thet ... (with 2Level skin )

Right after installation I get this error in my log.

02-Oct-2010 19:33:27 Error [ FanartHandlerConfig]: ImportLocalFanartAtStartup: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Die Datei oder Assembly "MP-TVSeries, Version=2.6.2.1231, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" oder eine Abhängigkeit davon wurde nicht gefunden. Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden.
Dateiname: "MP-TVSeries, Version=2.6.2.1231, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null"
bei FanartHandler.Utils.GetTVSeriesName(String type)
bei FanartHandler.FanartHandlerConfig.ImportLocalFanartAtStartup()

I don´t use tv-series plugin.
after closing plugin configuration after it opened up during installation, I ican´t start it anymore. \he above message is displayed.
any idea?

Thank you all for your feedback. I have uploaded Beta2 now. For change log since Beta 1 see the google code issue list. Mostly the issues fixed since Beta2 is path problems and issues related to people that does not have TVSeries plugin installed (never occurred to me that some people didn't use that great plugin ).

Tested Beta2 now but still the same, it doesn't pick it up.

Hi cul8er, for the new version. Going through your issue list I encountered the possible support for MyFilms. That would really be a great enhancement, especially for us skinners - dealing only with one fanart handling

thanks for your effort.
For me (no tv-series plugin installed), the beta2 brought a very slight improvement:

right after installing the mpei there was an improvement, because it immediatly opened the configuration screen which it did not with beta1. It did not scrape anything though. After closing it I tried to open the config via mp configuration and got the same message as quoted in my post above.
Finally I installed tv-series. Only to learn that the plugin now mourned about a missing something for moving pictures (that I haven't installed eather). Being in the midst of it, I decided to install this plugin as well.
After that, configuration of fanart handler opened up fine.

Unfortunately the scraper still wouldn't work for me. The plugin was complaining about some assembly missing.
I am on a different computer now. When I have access to my htpc, I'll post the exact log message.

I have two more computers with mp and without tv-series and moving pictures, so if there is a beta3, I can test it for you.
