Fast Forward Music is not working (1 Viewer)

I cannot fast forward (nor rewind) music when using the DirectX player.

When I switch to WMP10(9) is does work.
However I do not want to use this player as it causes very restless (to the point of irritating) image changes between the coverart and visualization in the bottom left corner.
I switched off Visualizations in WMP, but I still get flip overs between coverart and a black image.
Side note: this speed of this flipping over dramatically slows down when MP does not have focus!

I tried WinAmp, but that also does not see (get?) the FForward/Rewind command. It does see Play/Pause however.

I see several posts/requests on disabling this flipping over, but the only resolution seems to be going back to version 1.3.. or to use the DriectX player. But that looses the FFW and REW. :twisted:


Does anybody know how to do this?


I use MP in (maximized) Window mode, BlueTwo Metal Dark, version 0.2 RC2, no CVS.

You can disable cover art flipping in Configuration.exe Music-->Enable Visualization (Windows Media Player only). When disabled, only the cover art will be shown in the Music Overlay (window in bottom left corner). Oddly, this option *used* to be called "Disable coverart flipping". I'm not sure why the name was changed. Not sure about FF/RW behavior. I'll take a closer look when I have some free time.

That does sound like the thing I am looking for, however...

I do not see this option!

I looked again through all the menu's, options etc.
I even did full text scans on all *.xml files for the words coverart, flipping, Visualization, but found nothing.

Should it be in the 0.2 RC2 version?
Do I need to get RC3 pre-release? (I was hoping to wait for the final RC3 to be released).

I added the change to CVS on 2/25/06 so you'll need RC3 or you'll have to wait for 0.2 final.

Ok, I updated to RC3, and yes my problem is (kind of) resolved.

I now use WMP10 to FFW my music. Both on MCE RemoteEU and with F6.
I can even switch to Visualizations when in the mood and not be disturbed with the constant flipping.

Remaining problems with RC3:

- Rewind does not work.
- When I PAUSE the music, the WAV volume is also completely muted!

This is a major problem, as the reason for pausing music can be to use some other software with audio out, like MSN, Skype (I do not want to use the plugin), my ISDN incoming call pronouncer.
I will open a new topic on this.

When using DirectX player: no FFW, no REW, PAUSE does not mute.
