Playback from recorded TV:
Fast forward/backward only works smooth at 2x, at 4x or higher the picture freezes and the time-label
updates irregular.

Hi,

I can confirm these bug on my maschine. If I fast backward I see no picture update at all. If I stopp it and press play, the movie begin playing a little bit earlier -> backward works, but no picture update...

Fast forward 2x is better than in 1.0.2, 4x same as backward...

Same here. Tried in single seat (XP+SAF) and also remotely (W7 with no added codecs): x4 and up freezes image while playing .ts records or viewing live tv, so it is not possible to see where the current position is until normal play, making fast forward/backward useless. I think it is a 1.1.0 RC1 feature and not a per user installation issue (my guess).

Thank you!

PS: It would be nice to see the remaining time in the progress bar while playing recordings instead of the total time. It is very strange since this is not the behabior while playing other videos where the usefull remaining time appears at the right. It is also the behavior of MP previos versions (MP 1.0.2 stable) and, from my point of view, it is far better than the total time.

This has been an issue for some time now, you get different results with different codecs but LiveTV especially doesn't fast fwd/rwd very well. Mediaportal devs recommend using skip steps instead which is not really my preference since I like to see when to hit play when it's at the point I need.

    Hi,

I can confirm this too but the question is can we do anything about it? Can any dev please comment on that?

I just installed 1.1 RC1 and I also now have this problem. Only with televion recordings. I never had this problem in 1 RC3 which I ran quite stably for a very long time now. In 1 RC3 I had my TV recordings saved in the MPEG format though, and the option to change the recording format seems to be removed in 1.1 RC1, so there is no checking if it is the ts formats' fault

    From a related thread:
    Hi,

The short answer is that ffwd/rew has never worked reliably (x2 is generally okay) and that this is a fundamental limitation that MP is unable to work around.

There is no realistic chance of this ever being fixed, unless someone makes a massive breakthrough.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
