Som sugiestion/question to new releases of MP

I have used MP in 1 year now, a lot of testing to get the final system I want, and to work fast with minimum CPU usage. My system is build to be fanles and minimum noise. I have a big collection of Music and Movies.
The problem when i use NAS based harddrives is speed isue, the My Music and My Movies become to slow

I now use the "Moving Pictures" for my Movies. This pluggin is much faster then the orginal "My Videos" in MP. and the use of NAS to store my movies is now possible! (because of the database powered plugin "Moving Pictures")
The "Moving Pictures" is still not perfect but I hope it will...:p

My question is, Is this somthing you is planned to import as standard in MP for the "My Music and My Videos"

Keep up the fantastic work :D

Best regard

This has come up with the MediaPortal team before and they are working on enhancements for the MyVideos functionality for MediaPortal 2 that is planned to be comparable to Moving Pictures in at least some ways. They don't seem to be interested in incorporating Moving Pictures into MediaPortal natively though, I am pretty sure packaging in plugins in the past has caused some significant issues.

Indeed there are few big issues:

    1) Plugin authors disapear -> leaves unmanaged (not c++ :)) code to the releases. In the end causes plugins to be removed from the MediaPortal.

    2) Release cycles. Really hard to match different plugin and MP core releases. Just think if there were Moving Pictures, My Tv Series, For the Record & MP itself. It would be just impossible to find a suitable release cycle. This will slow down the plugin development a lot.

My meaning was not to implement plugin to mediaportal code but to use Database powered structure on My Music, My Movies... :)
Todays disk structure in MP1 is to slow on a flat structure of movies, if the disk is not conected to the PC.

Sorry for my bad English
