Indeed there are few big issues:

1) Plugin authors disapear -> leaves unmanaged (not c++ ) code to the releases. In the end causes plugins to be removed from the MediaPortal.

2) Release cycles. Really hard to match different plugin and MP core releases. Just think if there were Moving Pictures, My Tv Series, For the Record & MP itself. It would be just impossible to find a suitable release cycle. This will slow down the plugin development a lot.
