Apparently some channels at least broadcast Series Link information which can be used by PVRs to only record first showings, not repeats, of programmes. It seems they broadcast a Series CRID and a Programme CRID to acheive this, as explained in this thread: Digital Spy Forums - View Single Post - When will channel five fix it's broken series link feature?
It would be great if MP could take advantage of this additional broadcast information to implement this feature.
