Summary:

Video Buffer (help smooth playback over wireless network)

Description:

For those of us who serve content to thier HTPCs, I would like to suggest a video buffer option in MediaPortal. I have a wireless G connection to my media but depending on the size/quality of a video, it has a tendancy to "hiccup" every now and then. It's not a bad stutter, but its is noticable/distracting.

If MediaPortal could buffer the video it is playing it would eliminate this problem I believe... I understand if you use an external player this wouldnt help but I like the internal one just fine :D

And thanks again for a great program! :D

Unfortunately it's not an easy thing as the buffering would need to be done "outside" the MP i.e. between the filesystem and the directshow source filters.

Wow, that was a quick response! :D

I was afraid of that... I'm no dev so I guess my concept of how a media player works is incorrect.

The way I was thinking was that as the program (MP) opens a file, it decided what to do with that information, be it, output it to the display or queue up some frames that will then be sent to the display....

I thought that once the program had the information that is in the file (be it in part or in full) that IT decided how to use that information....

I'm showing off my newbishness
