    Codecs Mpeg2 (for DVD): DScaler
    Post Processor: ffdshow
    S/O: XP Pro sp.3
    Renderer: VMR9
Video Card: ATI 3470 CCC 9.1

    Questions:

    1) to add ffdshow like post-processor for DVD (MP - DVD section - PP) i must to choose "ffdshow raw video filter" or "ffdshow video decoder"? Or it is the same? (I don't use ffdshow like decoder mpeg2 too)
    2) in ffdshow - video decoder configuration - codec section - raw video: i must to set it on "all supported" or "disable"?
    3) in MP - DVD - DVD Post Processing - Activated filter (ffdshow raw video filter or ffdshow video decoder - see question n.1 :D) - filter properties - codec section - raw video: i must to set it on "all supported" or "disable"?

    Thanks

enable the OSD in ffdshow settings, then you can work out whether the filter is loaded or not.
if your post processing with ffdshow then use raw video mode.

Got an extra question regarding this:

Is it possible to make ffdshow only process non-HD videos? When I add the raw video filter to postprocessing for videos, it is applied on ALL my movies and series. Extra rendering or deinterlacing of 1080p feeds is a waste of CPU cycles, but for low ress divx it sometimes really makes a difference.

If you can make sure that ALL non-HD videos (their decoder actually) outputs only one colorspace, and that colorspace is not used by the decoder of HD videos, then theoretically you can, by enabling the Raw video decoder for that colorpace alone.

But there is no need to do that in MP. You can just set ffdshow as the video decoder for the SD videos with the filters you like and for the HD the decoder of your preference. No need for post-processing

    @mamachan
Ideally you should set ffdshow as a decoder and post-process(deinterlace?) with dscaler inside ffdhow

Yes, you can use conditional loading of filters (preset autoload). FFdshow can load a set of filters depending on the resolution of video, codec used, colorspace, fourcc, filename, etc.

For instance, you could rename your HD movies, to moviname-HD.ext and create a preset that has no filter selected. Or apply a set of filters only if original resolution is less than 720 pixels wide.

You'll still need ffdshow connected, though.
