    Hello!

So, been trying to improve my MP experience, during which ive noticed and issue with FPS.

When using the PowerDVD/Nvidia codec I get 50fps. Once I attach ffdshow, this drops to 24/25fps. it will never go above this.
It is not a CPU issue, as there is plenty of headroom. It seems to be a ffdshow specific thing.

Anyone else get this? any ideas? With TV broadcast at 30fps in the UK its quite noticable that things are exactly perfect

Sounds like ffdshow is deinterlacing the 50 interlaced fields to 25 progressive frames ... The deinterlacing setting can probably be changed to make 50 half-height progressive frames ...

Try playing with the deinterlacing if you're not happy with the PQ.

    Hope that helps,

    Hmm maybe that makes sense.

I have PowerDVD dong the de-interlacing and passing the video to ffdshow for post processing, so I guess PowerDVD is doing the 50frames de-interlaced to 25.

Doesnt really make sense with 30fps TV though.. i'll double check though.

EDIT: I can take PowerDVD out of the equation and see what happens with just ffdshow - id hope to see 50fps.

I'm using ffdshow and it outputs at 50 fps. You have to enable deinterlacing in ffdshow, as well as in Media Portal. Use Kernel Bob and that's it.

You mean enable deinterlacing in MyTV? If so: What mode? (Bob, weave, best?).

I've been uysing FFMPEG deinterlacing in FFDShow, but not quite happy with the results. Are you using any spesific settings for Kernel Bob? (Treshold = ?, sharp, luma etc.)

Yes, set deinterlacing under MyTV to Bob, then configure ffdshow to deinterlace using Kernel Bob. That will split each interlaced frame in two frames which will be upscaled to full screen. I have not changed the settings of Kernel Bob in ffdshow, the default ones work pertty well here.
