FireDTV == EyeTV ? (1 Viewer)

I heard FireDTV and EyeTV is the same box, one for Wintel, the other for Mac. Is this correct? (They sure look the same.)

If I buy an EyeTV 610 from Elgato for use on my OS X box and then connect it to a Wintel box running Media Portal, will it work? Will it show up as the FireDTV C/CI?

I asked Digital Everywhere (makers of FireDTV) about this and they said that the hardware is indeed the same, but the firmware is different. The EyeTV will not show up as FireDTV on Media Portal.
