First Time Install - DirectX Error w/ Config App (1 Viewer)

I recently installed Mediaportal for the first time. I installed the latest Beta, v 1.1

The install seemed to go OK (no error messages) , but when I try to launch the Configuration app., I get a big error box stating:

Failed to locate assembly 'Microsoft.Directx, Version=1.0.2902.0, Culture=Neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'

The error also reminds me the config. app. needs to be installed in the same folder as MP, which it is, since I did not change any of the default install options

I'm running Vista Ultimate with SP2…eVGA 8600GTS VC w/ latest nVidia drivers 191.07

any advice?....if there's something wrong with the DirectX installed, is there any way to repair it?

LOL...i just tried to create a Log file, and that crashed too

Fixed it. After some Googling stumbled on a post that had a link to a Directx package from July 2008. That package installed fine, and now i have MP working

don't know why newer versions did not work for me
