    Hi MP users!

I just got myself a new Abit Fatal1ty mobo. I have not yet gotten around to invest in a new gfx card so I use the integrated ATI Radeon 1250 Xpress.

I had a couple of BSODs because of the drivers for this card so I decided to upgrade with the latest from Abit.

After the upgrade I got flickering in the "mini-TV" in the EPG view. As soon as I go to full screen the flickering is gone. Strangely this only happens for SDTV, while HDTV (h264 DVB-T) is very stable and "flicker-free".

I found a post suggesting to play around with the anti-aliasing etc but there are zillions of settings it seems so I was wondering if anyone out there has some good suggestions where to start...?

    Thanks

    /Peter

    Hi again,

    A quick update on this:

    - I have now upgraded "for good" since I got tired of the BSODs with the version of ATI drivers I was using.

    - Still have the same problem as above.

    - I played around with the anti-aliasing settings and the only one that gives flickering is when it is set to "Use application settings", another other setting will give a black mini-TV. Full-screen still works OK.

Is there anyway to change these settings from MP since now it seems as Catalyst Control Center is picking its data from there.?

Tried ffdshow as an laternative to PowerDVD as video codec but with no visible difference...

    Another upate ;-)

Found the reason, or at least one way to cure this problem :)

I turned off the HW acceleration in MP Setup -> Directshow Filter Control -> PowerDVD ->MPEG-2 Decoder settings. I left the Deinterlacing to "Auto-select".

Now the mini-TV view is showing OK and it seems as full-screen viewing is still OK.

I don't know the details how it works but I'm happy!

    /Peter

I am also experiencing problem with hardware acceleration (DXVA) and MP. I read that there are some bugs with PureVideo DXVA (or is the PowerDVD using AVIVO?) and WMR9 (see my post under the codec-part of the forum).

There is also another post on the AVIVO codec (same subforum).
