OK, I'm with you. So will TVServer ever be able to support it?

I hear what you're saying but it's handy to have the choice to have especially if you've paused live TV then continued watching and:
A) The kids get hold of the remote and hit stop instead of pause...
B) You've had a few beers and you accidentally hit stop instead of pause...
C) Your wife decides she wants to talk to you and "accidentally" hits stop instead of pause...

All of the above scenarios (and probably a few more..) will result in your timeshifted TV being screwed - it's fine if you never pause live TV because if you accidentally hit stop you can just hit play again and carry on with your viewing but if you do pause live TV accidentally hitting stop can really screw your television watching pleasure...

BTW I can't recall this ever happening to me (except for maybe (C) above ) but I still think it's a good "safety" feature to have..
