Free EPG for Canada (1 Viewer)

I've been looking around and can only seem to find 1 EPG that works for canada. well either the schedules direct plugin or by using xmltv, but for both you need to have a schedules direct account which cost 20$ a year. does any one know if there are any free ones?

nope, and frankly $20 a year is peanuts.

i realize that it not that much, but there are free ones for just about every other country, so why should i pay for freely available information. i live in canada and have cogeco cable tv. i can go to their website and get the tv listings there http://tvlistings.cogeco.ca/tvgrid.shtml?luid=784&st=1195870171&sch=0&size=4&tzo=-5&dsto=1

isn't there a way to get the info from here so that MP can use it for the EPG?

Well, it would seem as if it would be that simple, but it's not. You'd have to write a scraper that would scrape all of that guide data and put it into a correctly formatted xmltv file that MediaPortal could then import.

I realize it says it's for the US but you may be able to get it working fine in Canada.

A good example of a scaper that works in canada is the MSN XMLTV Scraper. it works fine once you adjust the windows hosts file.
The only problem is that I cant find a plugin to make it work with mediaportal. isn't it about time?
